Food & Drink Demos – Demo Theatre, Live Fire Demos, Skills Marquee

Great news – as well as our usual demo theatre, we will be collaborating with The History Chefs on an exciting new project at the Old Hall Gardens. More info to follow …

The amazing Hang Fire Southern Kitchen approached us with a view to demonstrating on charcoal. It is hard to turn down that amount of enthusiasm so this year we are introducing our Live Fire Demos which will happen on both Sunday and Monday on the Vale Forge site at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. So come along and learn some new tricks for the BBQ season ahead. Scroll down to see the programme so far.

Demo Theatre, Arthur John Site, North Road – Sunday 28th May

10am        Alana Spencer, Ridiculously Rich

Children’s favourite chocolate cake pops from regular exhibitor, and winner of The Apprentice!

11am         Bar 44, Cowbridge

12pm        David Meadows, Devon Fishcakes

David will offer tips on dressed crab, scallop prep (without dismembering yourself) and other useful fish hints, as well as creating a delicious fishcake from their tasty range.

1pm          Wayne Thomas, Caban

2.30pm    Nick Craddock, Vale Cider

Tasting and talk from a very local craft cider producer

3.30pm    Llanerch Vineyard

This local vineyard will be holding a tutored tasting of their delicious wines with the opportunity to buy after the talk.

Local foodie hotspot will be exhibiting and also hosting a demo of seasonal produce

12pm       John Savage, Teifi Cheese

Teifi Cheese use traditional methods to make delicious award-winning artisan cheeses from the finest, locally sourced raw milk. John will be talking about these methods they use to create such incredible flavours.

1pm         Mel Constantinou, Baked by Mel

Delicious and easy soda bread.

2.30pm    Tomos a Lilford Brewery

Beer and adventure – that’s what its all about.

3.30pm    Richard Ballantyne, Master of Wine

Richard is UK accounts manager for Vinexus and has spent 26 years in the wine business starting in Cowbridge in 1991. He became a Master of Wine in 2016, one of 356 in the world and the only (known) one in Wales and is a specialist in Italian wines.

Skills Marquee, Old Hall Gardens – Sunday 28th May 

10.30        Make a pot and sew a seed!  Learn how to make a plant pot using old newspaper and then plant a seed in it to take home with you!

11.30        Bee Keeping.  Learn all about the gorgeous bees that need our support and help with our interactive workshop.

12.30        The History Chefs.  Learn all about prehistoric foods and learn how to make a stew that was served to welcome visitors in prehistoric times.

1.30         Science Cream.  See how ice cream is made using science as an ingredient!

2.30        Make and Take your Tea!  This is definitely going to be a favourite with our much younger festival goers!  Make your own pizza then put it in a box to take home to cook!  Strictly ages 3-7 years old and first come first served (places are limited).

3.30          Samba Band Workshop.  Learn how to make amazing Samba music – an interactive workshop guaranteed to make you move!
