About Cowbridge

The bustling market town of Cowbridge is situated at the heart of the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan surrounded by stunning countryside and dramatic coastline. Situated a short drive from Cardiff, Cowbridge offers a contrast to the city with a variety of fantastic independent shops along the historic high street and in the delightful surrounding lanes – tasty and local foodie treats, the best in fashion, gifts and design, great restaurants – all contributing to Cowbridge being described as the ‘Bond Street’ of South Wales.

For those who want to stay in the area there is an accommodation provider to suit all budgets from B&Bs to camping, luxurious hotels to cottages. Cowbridge is a great base from which to explore all that South Wales has to offer. For accommodation providers visit: Visit Wales. Throughout the year, Cowbridge offers a schedule of special events celebrating all aspects of the town including the glitzy Fashion Week and the children’s favourite, Reindeer Day. The award winning Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival, sees the town at its most vibrant. It is a weekend of culinary excellence and all round family entertainment.

Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival
The next festival will be on 26th/27th May 2019 (Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday).

Since being founded in 2004 as part of the Cowbridge Charter Trust’s 750 year celebrations, Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival has grown from a one day event with 40 exhibitors and 4,000 visitors to a whole weekend attracting 150 applications for the 100+ exhibition stands and well over 10,000 visitors to the town. In 2010 the event was awarded the National Tourism Awards Wales: Best Community Event 2010.  The event won a Highly Commended award in Cardiff Life’s Best Event category last year.

Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival is organised by a fantastic volunteer committee with the help of two part-time Event Organisers. The Chairman is currently overseeing matters from Japan where he works. Sadly 2019 will be the first year he has missed because the Emperor has dictated his holidays and they don’t tally with the Festival – the show will go on!
